The innovation festival TEKNOWLOGY combines science, technology, innovation and valorisation to connect and inspire. Scientists from different disciplines, innovators, entrepreneurs and policy officials can interact and exchange knowledge and ideas to inspire each other. At TEKNOWLOGY 2023 we will look to the future. What does the world look like in 50 years and what role will technology play? Technology is and will be essential in solving the societal challenges of today and in the future. Trend Radar: a glimpse into the digital future

The Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure (Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur, "RDI") foresees problems with the current encryption of communications and networks. This is caused by developments in quantum computing. Quantum computers can perform large numbers of calculations simultaneously at lightning speed. This means that current encryption methods can be easily hacked. RDI has spelt this out in its Trend Radar, a publication in which RDI sets out its outlook on digital developments that will impact society in the short and longer terms.

Last week, the FIC (International Cybersecurity Forum) took place from 5 to 7 April in Lille, France. Top Sector ICT and dcypher travelled with the Dutch cybersecurity community as part of an international Trade and Innovation Mission. In addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The ONE Conference, 15 promising entrepreneurs also formed part of the delegation. The delegation had a shared pavilion with seven exhibitors as their home base for sessions, appointments and high-level business meetings.

Senate votes in favour of Electronic Data Exchange in Healthcare Bill

Data exchange between healthcare providers should be electronic rather than via fax, DVD or paper. The Senate unanimously approved the Electronic Data Exchange in Healthcare (Wegiz) Bill. The aim is for the Wegiz to be introduced by 1 July 2023.

Dutch SMEs have proven to be agile in recent years. However, in the wake of the corona crisis, many entrepreneurs are now also facing the consequences of the war in Ukraine and sharply higher inflation. It is therefore important that entrepreneurs continue to invest in sustainability, digitisation and productivity growth. This requires access to funding. In a letter to parliament, Micky Adriaansens, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate, has provided updates on access to finance and investment in digitisation.
